Of all the psychic senses, clairvoyance is the one most people have heard of. It's also the most misunderstood. Here's what it actually is, in plain language.
"Clear seeing"
Clairvoyance comes from French — clair (clear) and voyance (seeing). It describes receiving intuitive impressions as inner images: pictures, symbols, colours, or short scenes that appear in the mind's eye rather than in front of the physical eyes. A clairvoyant might "see" a closed door, a particular colour, a road forking, or a familiar object — and the meaning lives in the symbol.
It's one of several related senses, often called the "clairs". Its close cousins are clairaudience, or clear hearing, and clairsentience, or clear feeling. Most psychics lead with one but draw on several, which is part of why no two readers work quite alike — something we cover in how a reading actually works.
What a clairvoyant reading is like
In practice, a clairvoyant focuses on your question, quietens their mind, and notices the images that surface. The skill isn't only in receiving them — it's in interpreting them for your situation. A symbol of a bridge might speak to a transition; a clock might point to timing or patience. A good clairvoyant shares both the image and what they sense it means, so you can weigh it against your own life.
The value, as with any reading, is clarity. A vivid image can put words to something you've felt but couldn't name, or gently surface a pattern you keep walking into.
What it isn't
Clairvoyance isn't a crystal ball that shows a fixed future. The images point to themes, feelings, and possibilities — useful perspective to reflect on, not certainty to organise your life around. We're honest about this in how accurate readings really are. And as always, steer clear of anyone who uses "visions" to frighten you or sell a cure; those are classic red flags, not genuine sight.
Is a clairvoyant reading right for you?
If you're a visual thinker, or your question is more about direction than detail, a clairvoyant's symbolic, image-led style often lands beautifully. If you'd like the wider view of how the senses fit together, the main types of reading maps them all out.
When you're ready, you can start a psychic reading here — and on Kalm it arrives written, so you can sit with the imagery and reread it as it settles. A reading is for guidance and reflection, never a guaranteed prediction or a substitute for professional advice.
